There is nothing quite like homemade vanilla ice cream. Serve it to dinner guests as a special treat with a slice of homemade pie or cobbler…is there any dessert more satisfying than a bowl of French vanilla ice cream?

3 cups Heavy Cream

1 cup milk

3/4 cup sugar

8 egg yolks (discard the whites)

1 1/2 vanilla

In a sauce pan over medium high, add heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Whisk ingredients and allow to become very hot.

Remove from heat and add milk mixture to egg yolks a little at a time. Only use about a 1 1/2 cups of the mixture. Mix throughly and then pour the egg mixture into the remaining milk mixture. Whisk constantly over medium low heat until thickened, about 7-10 minutes.

Remove and add vanilla. Place back on heat and cook 7-10 minutes more till thickens like melted ice cream.

Place in high tight container in refrigerator for 24 hrs. Take out and place in ice cream maker. Freeze for 4- 6 hrs and enjoy!
