Absolutely the best cheese sauce to use for nachos, cheese fries, 5 layer dip, etc… I buy this 6.62 lbs. can of Nacho Cheese Sauce at Sam’s Club. You can’t buy it in small quantities, so I buy the large can and break it down into pints.
This can at Sam’s Club cost $5.82, so for about $1.00 a jar you have restaurant quality nacho cheese at home anytime.
First, I pour half the can into a pan over medium-high heat. I do half so it will get hot faster. Get the cheese sauce bubbling hot.
While hot pour into your pint size Mason jars, or what ever size you want.
Allow to set until they seal. Now you can enjoy restaurant quality Nacho Cheese Sauce at home.

Any idea on how long this would be shelf stable? I’m a household of one!

Hi Erika, I’m really not sure about that, but I go by the date on the cheese can I buy. It keeps really well…just make sure it seals. Have a great evening.

How do I make sure it seals? If the lid no longer ‘pops’?

1. Press the middle of the lid with a finger or thumb. If the lid springs up when you release your finger, the lid is unsealed.
2. Tap the lid with the bottom of a teaspoon. A clear ringing sound means a good seal. If it makes a dull sound, the lid is not sealed. If food is in contact with the underside of the lid, it will also cause a dull sound (that is not a problem nor a sign of spoilage). If the jar is sealed correctly, it will make a ringing, high-pitched sound.
3. Hold the jar at eye level and look across the lid. The lid should be concave (curved down slightly in the center). If center of the lid is either flat or bulging, it may not be sealed.

We love nachos in our family – one thing all the kids agree on when we get together! We buy the large can, and what we don’t use, we freeze. I have purchased the large can and put it in smaller plastic containers with a lid that seals, label & date, then I can use for just my husband and I when needed, or use several if there are more eating with us. It works very well IF you have the freezer space.

Glad to know you can freeze it. I haven’t tried to do that, but will next time. Thank you for letting me know.
