In the South, delicate cornmeal flatbreads known as hoecakes are a classic. Originally a simple mixture of cornmeal, water, salt, and bacon grease. You can also use your favorite cornbread recipe in your waffle iron. Serve these hoecakes alongside pinto beans and fried taters 🙂
You can make them fluffy, or flat and crispy. Serve them hot with butter and a glass of cold milk!
