Candy apples feature a layer of crunchy cinnamon hard candy that coats a crisp, apple. They’re so good, and you’ll be surprised at how easy they are to make. Follow this recipe and you will have perfect candy apples. HAPPY FALL!!!

What you will need:

12 large red apples

12 Wooden candy apple sticks, popsicle sticks, or what ever you want to use

Parchment paper or wax paper

Candy thermometer

4 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups water

1 cup light corn syrup

1 teaspoon red food coloring

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon oil

Getting Started
Wash and towel dry the apples, removing the stems and stickers.

Push the wooden sticks in about half way, inserting where the stem was removed.

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water, stirring slowly. Add in the corn syrup.

Heat mixture on medium high heat, stirring continuously until all the sugar is dissolved.

Heat the mixture to 300 degrees on the candy thermometer. Do not stir after the sugar is dissolved. Remove from burner and add 1 teaspoon red coloring and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon oil and stir quickly.
Be careful really hot. Work quickly before syrup hardens. If it does harden, place over low heat to soften.

You can add a little more food color, if you want it real dark red.. and add more cinnamon if you want more of a cinnamon taste, but I think 1/2 teaspoon is enough..

Allow syrup to stop bubbling, about 2 minutes.

Dip each apple in the candy mixture, swirl each apple in mixture to coat evenly lift out apple and swirl over saucepan a few more seconds to catch drip, (let as much excess dip off…you don’t want a thick coat on the apple) and place on the parchment paper to cool, Cool at least 1 hour before serving.
